Fusion Center Benefit: Enables your organization to coordinate, collaborate, and share information to prevent criminal activity and terrorism, protect first responders, and mitigate post disaster conditions. Description: A fusion center is an effective and efficient mechanism to exchange information and intelligence, while maximizing resources and streamlining operations. It improves the ability to fight crime and terrorism by merging data from a wide variety of sources. The U.S. Department of Justice’s Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative’s Fusion Focus Group combined with the Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Advisory Council Intelligence and Information Sharing Working Group to develop the guidelines for fusion centers. These guidelines, Fusion Center Guidelines: Law Enforcement Intelligence, Public Safety, and the Private Sector, are complete and available to aid in establishing fusion centers. The ultimate goal of a fusion center is to provide a mechanism where law enforcement, public safety, and private partners can come together with a common purpose and improve the ability to safeguard our homeland, prevent criminal activity, and mitigate post disaster conditions.
